American troops won the decisive victory over British forces at Chalmette Battlefield, site of the 1815 Battle of New Orleans.  Battered by Hurricane Katrina in 2005, Chalmette Battlefield recently reopened with a new temporary visitor center.

Return to 1815 with troops and civilians in period dress, cannon and musket firings, military drills, American and British camps, reenactment of the night battle of December 23, 1814, and tours by lantern light on Saturday evening. Annual wreath-laying to honor troops who fought at the Battle of New Orleans on Wednesday January 8.
